2004 World Championships

Expedition - EX Hidden Legends

Wyndham Palace Resort

Walt Disney World

1900 E Buena Vista Dr

• The 2004 Pokémon World Championships took place in Orlando for the first time. This was the first Worlds officially hosted by Pokémon, in which 132 players were invited to compete. (Total of 310 players from all divisions competed in this Worlds)

• A Last Chance Qualifier (the Grinder) was held on Friday, before the main event. The Top 32 players from the Grinder earned a spot to compete in the World Championships the next day. (118 players competed in the Grinder)

• Most players argue that this was the first Worlds to ever take place in the Pokémon TCG, even though WOTC hosted one two years prior in 2002. But given that this was the first officially sanctioned World Championship hosted by Pokémon Organized Play (now known as Play! Pokémon), those players aren't entirely wrong.

• The reason for the lack of a World Championship event not having taken place in 2003, was due to the transfer of the licensing of the TCG from WOTC (Wizards of the Coast) to Nintendo.
