• The 2011 US National Championships was held in Indianapolis for the first time ever. This was also the first Nationals that was a three-day event where anyone was welcome to play. Registration was gaurateed to the first 640 players that showed up.

• Friday consisted of 9 rounds (Best of 3), in which the Top 128 players moved on to a brutal single-elimination Top Cut on Saturday, saving Sunday for the remaining Top 16 players.

• On July 1st of 2011, for the first time in TCG history, Play! Pokémon announced an emergency mid-season rotation due to Sableye Donk, making this Nats the first ever to use a newly "modified" format. (7 sets were cut from format, the largest rotation ever at the time!)
